Basement finishing in Appleton and the Fox Valley

We finish and update basements for homeowners in Appleton and across the Fox Valley. The goal is a lower level your family uses, not more storage.

What we do

Basement finishing: what we do

Aaron’s advice on basements: “Make your basement a place you actually want to hang out.” That is what basement finishing is for. Basement remodeling has the same goal, for a lower level that was finished years ago and that nobody uses anymore.

Finishing a basement usually means framing, drywall, a ceiling, lighting, flooring, paint and trim. We do the framing, drywall, painting, flooring and finish work. Aaron and Ava are on the job site every day, and when a job needs another trade, Aaron brings in subcontractors he trusts.

Every basement photo on this page comes from one job, a movie room with a black ceiling and a wood slat wall. We would rather show you one real room than pad the page. If you are in Appleton, Neenah or anywhere in the Fox Valley, call or text Aaron at (920) 850-1010 for a free quote.

We work in Appleton, Menasha, Fox Crossing, Neenah and Greenville, and nearby.

  • Framing and drywall

New walls and rooms start with framing and drywall. We do both, along with drywall repair on walls that are already up.

  • Ceilings

The movie room on this page has a black ceiling, a good fit for a room built around a screen. Tell us how you plan to use the room and we will talk through the ceiling with you.

  • Accent walls and built-ins

The wood slat wall behind the TV is the centerpiece of the movie room. We also build custom cabinets and shelving with lighting, like the built-ins in a hangout room we did for a client in Menasha.

  • Flooring

The movie room has carpet underfoot. Flooring is one of our services, and Aaron helps with material choices.

  • Painting and finish work

Paint, trim and doors are what make a basement feel like the rest of the house. The movie room photos show cream paneled walls and dark double doors.

  • Layout and materials

Aaron helps with layout and materials, and he has worked with a designer on customer projects.

The basement movie room

This space “went from underused to the perfect movie room,” in Aaron’s words, and it is ready for family nights or hosting friends. The photos show a black ceiling, a wood slat accent wall that holds a large TV and soundbar, carpet, cream paneled walls and dark double doors.

Aaron and his team are down-to-earth, approachable, and truly dedicated to their craft. As a family-run business, it really stands out that they are the ones personally doing the work, which speaks volumes about their pride and commitment to quality. It’s rare to find a contracting company these days that operates with this level of care and integrity, but AG Contracting & Remodeling LLC does exactly that. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Aaron and his team whenever the opportunity arises!

Questions about basements

How much does it cost to finish a basement?

It depends on the size of the space and the materials you pick. We go through it with you at the walkthrough and put it in your quote. The quote is free.

How long does basement finishing take?

It depends on the size of the space, what is already there and what you want built, so we do not quote a timeline before we have seen the basement. We go through it with you at the walkthrough.

My basement is already finished, but nobody uses it. Can you update it?

Yes. The movie room on this page was an underused space before we worked on it. As Aaron wrote about that job, “A few intentional updates can completely change how you use your home.”

Do I need a permit to finish a basement?

That depends on the work and on the rules where you live. If yours needs one, we take care of it for you. Ask us when we come out to look at the space and we will go over what your project needs.

Who will be working in my house?

Aaron and Ava are on the job site every day. We are a small, family-run business, and when a job calls for another trade, Aaron brings in subcontractors he trusts.
